That's a great shot! Only improvement I can think of is to capture him with a fish in his mouth.

...I don't see how you can improve that. You knew that already, though.

I think improvements could be made in terms of colour but i am unsure of the best metods for this. the kingfisher is in sunlight ,the branch is in shade and the background is in direct sunlight. i have found it difficult to balance the three and think it looks slightly un-natural a bit too real if you like.I processed the raw file in photoshop cs using flash as white balance as this gives the most neutral results but as i say i am still not 100% happy with it.

Noise reduction for the bokeh, other than that it's a beatiful shot.

I passed this through Smart Sharpen (minimally) and downed the exposure by a notch but it really was great to start with. It is really just a matter of personal preference at this point .

I love the shot.. superb job!

Are you asking how you could have done it better in the field (I have no answer to that) or how could it be improved in post?

If the latter,. i would want to tweak the file in my favorite RAW converter.. (you did shoot RAW didn't you ;) ) for more color.. and then I would go to town on it in PSCS to remove noise in the background areas and sharpen the edges..

I would use masks, layers and history brush to apply these changes only to specific areas..

I think it's a great shot, I'd very be happy with it if it was mine. I'd have to agree with the others with the processing side of things but it would be hard to improve the actual shot itself in the field.

Cheers Wayne :D

Gosh,

This is beautiful! Kind of hard to improve when the image is so well framed, appropriately fuzzy where details is less critical, the colors look vivid and realistic... I do not know.
Keep sharing such beautiful images
Chenu
