Eh...Why would I though? I dunno if i'll be able to afford, or even want a 5D Mark III or a D800.... Gear, New and Old! RAW Club Member

I've used this forum a number of times for canon gear. Is there a nice source to buy used nikon gear? Fredmiranda.com probably has the biggest FS section with a rating system and the brands are pretty mixed. Plenty of Nikon stuff there. That's where all my stuff goes for sale.

The desire to switch is caused by problems now basically, Those bodies arent going to be here until early next year, So yeah.. I dunno... D400 (or whatever it's going to be called) may end up being this summer. Nikonrumors has only reported the delayed release of the D4 and D800 pro bodies. In the end it is a bit of a guessing game.

Couldnt give a rats rear over video, i used it once and i likely would be satisfied with -either- system's video implementation, anything i do just goes on youtube XD Gear, New and Old! Im not 100% on a D700, Think its a great camera but i do shoot a lot of wildlife and that where the D7000 or D400 is a superior choice because of the more pixels on target thing.. Gear, New and Old! I know this sounds dorky, but I think the 35 will bring out more "artistic" work. Well, the 24-120 f/3.5-5.6 is $669.99, which I guess I wouldn't describe as very expensive in general, but compared to other f/3.5-5.6's it would be pretty dam spendy. But you're exactly right, 36 definitely isn't wide enough for a "universal" lens, 24 would barely cut it. The 18-105 f/3.5-5.6 is only $399.99 which fits greatly into my budget! I don't mean to pick your brain, but how significant is the step up from my current lens(es)? I would say at least 50% of my shots are in the 20-30 range, the 16 probably isn't really worth the extra cash, although I know I would appreciate the extra wide angle in some case. I think your right, the $300 extra really isn't worth the extra 2mm. How much do you want for the D90 w/ 18-105? We could take that portion of the conversation to pm ![]() I don't think the 24-120 (the f/3.5-5.6 or the f/4) are worth it, especially on crop sensor. dgrPhotos wrote in post #12357586 I may be in the minority here but both lens are NOT worth those prices. There is a sharper 24-120 f4 lens but cost twice as much. Nikon also has a 28-300 you can find for under $1K used. That lens is sharp but does suffer from barrel distortion because it's so "mega" . That distortion is easily fixable in LR and other pp apps. If I was force to pick a mega-zoom I would get that, buy it used and deal with the distortion later.I don't know that the 28-300 makes sense for him; he likes shooting wider than that, and is on a budget, so for a lens not to cover all of his needs and be $900 or so used, doesn't seem like the best option IMO. The richness of color on the D7000, combined with all the features it offers you make it brilliant. You already know what that little lens can do. Hi. I'm Anton.
