Another question - does anyone know if a Canon EF-S lens can be mounted on a Nikon D90 (using an adapter)? If it can be, are all functions available? Where are the adapters available from?

5D & 7D (both gripped), 24-105L, 100-400L, 15-85, 50 f1.8, Tamron 28-75, Sigma 12-24, G10, EX-Z55 & U/W housing, A1+10 lenses, tripods, lighting gear, etc. etc.

basically no Canon lens can be mounted on any Nikon camera...mainly due to Mount size... you can mount a Nikon lens to a Canon Camera using an adapter because Canon has bigger mounts but can't do it the other way around.

I visited nikon site and it currently sells fm-10 and f6 so thought let's just pick fm-10. My knowledge of old film cameras is not that good :p .... And I got it from used dept body only (9+ condition) so didn't pay much for it.

Eh i guess...

the FM-10 is made by Cosina, as is the lens iirc, its really not a Nikon and its not quite as durable as the other Nikons..

You probubly coulda gotten an FM-2 and a 50mm f/1.8 for like $80...They were common bodies... (My dad had one actually)

OK, may be I can consider returning the the FM-10, if that's not that great (I still haven't received it) and look for a FM/FM2/FM2n/FE2/FM3a (now I did some research) .... I am wondering, if FM-10 could break down with the weight of either the ZF.2 50mm makro or 80-200 F2.8 :confused:

Really, Better to invest in an old Nikon, Hey if you want a great Film body look for an F4, God i loved that thing (I almost bought an F4+20mm f/2.8 Nikkor at one point for $500....I fell in love with it instantly)

I'd recommend a F4, F3HP, FE2, FM2 or FM3a

Being made by Cosina isn't necessarily a bad thing. They manufacture Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses and the Zeiss Ikon rangefinder camera. Zeiss does the QC on their brands. If Nikon did the QC when the FM-10 was being made they should be OK. Also for retour this just seems to be a fun experiment so maybe durability isn't at the top of the list.

Some good points for FM-10 too.

FM-10:
* Made of plastic (but you don't have to worry abt factors like rust. today's entry level dslr are made of plastic too)
* Less durable
* made by Cosina

FM Nikon made:
* Durable (as they say built like a tank)
* May have to check for factors like rust
* Old parts may need to be replaced
* Servicing (lube, etc), additional cost ($100-$150)

I am checking out film so if it interests me more then might go for one of the better film cameras in future .... how is the F100?

Since I already have the fatboy D700, would prefer something lightweight for film though. One of the ideas for shooting film is to shoot 35mm in a light-weight package. Other thing is that with film, you feel like you have a gun with 36 bullets so you have to be more accurate with your theme and shot selection and shoot like a sniper vs open firing with digital (like an AK-47). Though mainly shooting w/ the Zeiss has turned me more into a sniper. This is from an enthusiast PoV.

If you want a light film camera I'd check out both the Minox 35ML and the Canon A1. Both very high quality and lightweight.

I'm a B&W film shooter. Eight years ago after 30+ years of Nikon SLRs I bought a Leica M and my whole world changed. If you want a compact/light weight film body there is no comparison. It is a different shooting philosophy though and a rangefinder is very different to an SLR. You don't have to buy a Leica to try a rangefinder, Cosina build a range of rangefinder bodies that are very inexpensive, or even better you could pick up a little Canonet QL17 on eBay for $30 or so and give it a try. :)

First off -smacks- ROUNDS, Not bullets, a bullet is the projectile, a round or cartridge is the complete package including bullet, shell casing, propellant and primer....

Secondly, the F100 is nice, I passed it up for the EOS-3 but the F100 was a very cool body at the time too

Hi All,

I'm thinking to get a used Nikon 50/55mm for my F100 for similar price.

One is NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4 AIS Manual Focus Lens;
Another is Normal Macro 55mm f/2.8 Micro Nikkor AIS Manual Focus Lens.

That will be my one and only Nikon lens for 35mm film.

Which one should I get?

Canon 5D3 + Zoom (EF 17-40L, 24-105L & 28-300L, 100-400L II) & Prime (24L II, 85L II, 100L, 135L & 200 f/2.8L II; Zeiss 1,4/35)
Sony α7r + Zeiss 1,8/55 FE
Nikon Coolpix A; Nikon F3 & F100 + Zeiss 1,4/50

Hi there

I have this lens and its so damn sharp but the problem is it can't focus farther than a few meters away, I am not sure if its common among old Macro lenses though

Sample shot D700 + 55mm f/2.8 Micro w/ PK-13 extension tube
