not really... I think its directly competes with the Sony Nex... no?

I have a NEX5 and really like it. Works extremely well at high ISO. And the photos I've taken just using street lighting have been wonderful. (Car show in Georgetown the first night I shot with it.)

I'm planning on getting a Nikon D5100 in a week or so and I'm wondering what is the best way to process my photos. With my Canon 40D I've been using Lightroom 2 but I'm guessing that it won't handle NEF files from the D5100. I believe that one option is to convert my NEF files into DNG and continue using LR2. What other programs handle 14-bit NEFs as produced by this camera?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Someone was running a deal where you got Lightroom 3 at a reduced cost when you bought a dSLR but i think the deal ended...

no. completely different sensor size. NEX uses aps-c. it would be more of a competitor to the pentax q but from what ive seen so far (which isnt much) the Q is the better contender.

Regardless of sensor size I would assume it's simply trying to compete with other mirrorless camera's. The fact that it's one of the smaller sensors but more expensive bodies has me scratching my head. The average consumer doesn't want to spend $300 let alone $1K on a camera. If you're going for the enthusiast market what advantages does it have over the other mirrorless camera's because we see an obvious disadvantage in sensor size. The biggest thing I see is an adapter for F mount lenses that will still AF. That's not going to make it worth the extra dosh in my opinion.

Got my Vivitar 383 last night, actually my second one. It fires flawlessly and works great.

Damn thing is, I forgot there's no EC on the flash  And the auto zoom doesn't work. Still kicking myself for selling the Metz! The one positive is I found it new on Overstock.com for 100 bucks!

Playing around with renting a D3s for new years this year...dunno how the availability of these are, especially in December. Thoughts?

Good to see you all. Being too busy here to linger for long.
