Got a Nikon? Yes, a D5000. I bought it when I decided it was time to get back into SLRs after I hung up the AE-1. I outgrew it in a short time. I made a little upgrade...Canon (of course) 1D3.
It's a new world with a 1D.

Share your thoughts and photos here or ask a question! (II))! I will do so as suggested, again, I apologize very much ! As for the most part of these cruddy pix, I took all of these on a bus with speeds ranging from 065 or so, and I aimed my Nikon D700, and Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 MF lens either resting on the ledge, or actually out the window, with the dense chance of losing my small($2200+) investment, with hopes of capture great photo's. xDIs that the only lens you have that works on the D700?

I would also add that even in the picture posting section not to flood threads with several dozen photos, people do get irritated when one poster monopolizes a thread. I have the Nikkor 50mm 1.4D as well, but I like to use the 28mm f/2.8 Nikkor more! AMERICO

K6AZ Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 21, 2012 19:02 | #5914 I would suggest finding one of the 24-120 VR lenses that were sold as part of the kit. They're cheap, I've seen them for less than $250. While not as sharp as lenses like the 24-70 they don't deserve the bad rap some give them. I would suggest using an AF lens and concentrating on exposure and technique, manual focus lenses can be used later once you get that down. If you don't already have it get LR4 and shoot RAW.

Other than the price difference, what are some things I should know about it? I am researching it right now but would love some input. The Nikon 50 F1.4 G has a reputation for slow focus in low light. I find my D700s a bit slow to focus in low light without AF assist beam from a flash. Sigma is very hit and miss, personally I've tried 8 Sigma primes across Canon and Nikon and not one worked well, even after three were calibrated, so I'd really suggest staying clear. I've had good luck with their macros and several of their primes. I went through a couple of their 50/1.4 lenses and sent them both back. Both had focus issues and having read the complaints I wasn't going to wait for Sigma to 'fix' them.

K6AZ Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 22, 2012 22:50 | #5920 Yep, those are the two that seem to really have a lot of focus complaints. Although not very sharp wide open I like their 20/24/28mm f/1.8 primes primarily for the close focusing distance. The AF is also kind of slow by today's standards.

I just don't want to sell it until I get the new version. D800 | Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art | Nikkor 85mm 1.8G | Nikkor 70-200 2.8G
