The "D600" is looking promising.

My main lenses are primes aside from the 16-35 f/4VR. I had a similar set up with Canon so I'm quite comfortable shooting with my 50 & 85 f/1.8G. The biggest difference is, Nikon's versions are way sharper wide open and provide less chromatic aberration. +1 Nikon!

At least with the 50 1.8 and the 85 1.8, but they do not compare to my 50L or 85L. Also the 35mm f/1.4G is not as poppy color wise as my 35L. Honestly it seems as though all of my images SOOC need more color processing to get the pop that I prefer. But then again the final outcome of images is always a subjective matter and we all like our images to look diferent from how others percieve them. As of right now I prefer the Nikon camera build and IQ but prefer the canon lenses look SOOC. Also I seem to get more keepers with the Nikon AF system. Even with my third party lenses.

I just received a print I sent to Ilford print services from my d800. Print was resized to 300 dpi at 15x10.

I know this is well below the print size I could do with the d800, but the print came out beautiful. This camera is lovely for sure.

Well the 28 G is ordered via Amazon. Don't know when it will ship, but it'll get here when it gets here. Sigh...updating the gear list :)

Youre comparing entry point primes with L primes? If the Nikkor 1.8 lenses are better, Canon will be in big trouble!

I've shot at f6.3 on my 17 TS-E and there was enough DOF. ;)

Sacrilege!

You dare post a Canon picture in a Nikon thread of a Canon forum? :D

PS Spectacular shot by the way...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Actually mainly my 35mm f/1.4G vs my 35L. The 35L has a better image SOOC color wise.

one thing for sure after going back to film I can safely say color in my eye will never be the same. many of the images posted here lack the depth I find with color film. now most likely that has to do with the light source in the image (harsh or flat or lens bias) but no mistaking a lack of warmth in some digital images. I have a d800E on order and if it doesn't kick the booty it will be sold off. I am in no race to produce images and film is cheap.

This difference between film and digital disappeared years ago. Since you aren't comparing your own shots you can't really make a comparison. I still shoot some film and it's not for lack/depth of color from digital.

I find the exact OPPOSITE. I don't think there is any comparing the two.
