I had to set the AF fine tune to -20 to get this.

Is this worth opening a repair ticket with Nikon??

The AF Fine Tune? It's in the setup menu.

How did you post a photo with the focus points like that? That's wild. I set my D700 to -3 for my 50 1.8. I can't imagine doing -20!!

why are sb-600's so expensive,

The SB-600 has been discontinued by Nikon. I picked up a couple last week at my Local Best Buy for $220 as I'm building a little strobist outfit. Next day they'd sold out...

I got my SB-600 for $200 which i thought was pretty cheap right? Just picked up a used 17-55 Nikkor from B&H for $900 (rating of 9) WOOT!!!! Can't wait for MONDAY! GAH!! I luvs me some wide angles.

Incredible lens - I had mine on sale at PN and then I found out that the three primes I bought to replace it were not as good optically and were heavier too! I use mine on a Fuji S5; great combination!

That's just ViewNX which has the option to show focus points and then clipping it with the Windows 7 clipping tool.

I'm going to send it in for repair. Being a new model it's probably going to take months.

why are sb-600's so expensive, i'm thinking i'd be ok with just about any flash i could bounce, i dont need all the extra setting and so fourth, i dont think i'd ever use the remote trigger or strobist or anything like that. And another weird thing is the sb-28dx is selling for the same price as the sb-600????

just get the Nissin Di-622 MKII for $150 or so:lol:

wow, I gave away 2 sb26's and a 28 (to a strobist friend) thinking that no one uses them anymore. This is probably why I lose $

:lol: yeah the SB-600 is expensive for what little features it has...

I dunno I find all flashes too expensive..that's why I have a Manual yongnuo flash that I bought for $60 :lol:

why? coz I don't think I need a flash with the D700... yeah yeah;););)

I have the YN560 as well but it's still manual. I would only consider it as a slave unit.

BTW, if we all live in a sunny paradise like you we wouldn't need a flash as well. ;)

Yes i would, if you have to dial in -20 to get it right.....

Glad i could help you though man, i just thought it was a shame to send it back when there may be nothing wrong...

Yeah, I know the AF fine tune (I'm trying hard not to call it microadjustment ;) ) is supposed to fix small discrepancies, but if it's racked out all the way to -20 I'd probably send it in. Or, if you're all about the instant gratification and you bought from a good shop, just exchange it for another body...
