Might be able to find a computer store or a Wal-mart today on the way to the Eastern Sierras. It won't get the stuff off. It's probably oil, lol. The D600 and D800 have MASSIVE oil spray problems. Get some "visible dust" cleaning kit stuff and clean it urself. First time will take a while, after that it's easy. After a few thousand frames the problem will magically go away and stop spraying oil. amanathia.zenfolio.com

Here's a 100% crop of a sky shot, to give you an idea. ![]() I mean that's just ridiculous. I've had this camera for a week. I've owned 2 Rebels for 3 years a piece and never had to clean the sensor. Guess I should get a cleaning kit. If it is under warranty (it should be), I would create an account mynikon from their website and upload the same picture. Complain about excessive use of lubrication oil on the shutter. They usually reply within a day and most likely ask you to return the body. Just follow the instructions from there and include a copy of your receipt. They'll check everything and clean the sensor for you. You just have to pay for the shipping. Regards,

For some reason, I'm super afraid of scratching the sensor/aa filter, whatever is in front of the sensor. I wouldn't do that myself, I take it to a local shop. I use a rocket blower at home, so far I've had no problem cleaning up the D800 with it, but it has taken more blowing than any of my Canon bodies did.

Guess I should get a cleaning kit. That appears to be the excess oil problem. As was suggested I would send it in for warranty service and have them correct it, shutters should not be spraying oil on the sensor.
