May as well buy a RRS or Kirk integrated collar/foot if you use the arca type QR system.

You know what i think it is? The location of the nameplate! I know it sounds stupid but i think itd look better with the nameplay in the same spot as on the f/2.8...

Look, i dont care, so long as its got great optics/AF/VR and is built well (Which i dont doubt) then id buy it...I'm just saying i think it looks odd

Kenji - I think you are just being nit picky or complain too much. Just be thankful that Nikon provided a well deserved version of the 70-200mm f4 in their zoom lens. I would definitely get one if I didn't have a 70-200mm lens yet. The Nano coating, improved VR and the gold ring are a big surprise from the initial picture that was posted.

Just grabbed a 28mm 1.8G.

Just noticed Nikon is advertising an "f4 trinity" on that page.

MTF chart looks pretty promising. I don't care much about the tripod colar since I have a better long lens support. The lens is lighter than the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 which makes it a nice walk-around lens.

One down, one more to go on my wish list. Nikon 300mm f4 VRIII, next please.

The 70-200 f4 really looks good. As light as it is, a tripod collar is not essential unless you intend to shoot on a tripod.

The 300 f4 would be a nice add too if you don't need f2.8.:)

Nikon 300mm f2.8 VRII is just too expensive and heavy for my recreational use. f4 is much more manageable and affordable.

I agree. I would opt for the f4 over 2.8 since I don't shoot a lot action very often. Heck! I rarely shoot things that require a FL over 200mm! :)

I checked Ado, Amazon, and a few other sites and none of them had it listed yet.

I fooled around with live view yesterday for the first time, seen a lot of complaining about the implementation of it on the Nikon but I didn't find anything in I didn't like. Here's a shot with the 24-70 using live view, D800. I'm still liking this 24-70 a lot. I'm hoping to go back out today with my 105mm and play some more with live view.

Finally all the f/4 family is united! Now we need f/1.2 family to show up to stop the complains!
