Just noticed Nikon is advertising an "f4 trinity" on that page.

What do they say is the 'trinity' (sorry but that is the most overused word in the world when discussing lenses)? Let's see, there is the 16-35, 24-120, 70-200, and 200-400. That makes four and a trinity is not four.

I fooled around with live view yesterday for the first time, seen a lot of complaining about the implementation of it on the Nikon but I didn't find anything in I didn't like. Here's a shot with the 24-70 using live view, D800. I'm still liking this 24-70 a lot. I'm hoping to go back out today with my 105mm and play some more with live view.

Are you using MF on the 24-70?

They don't include the 200-400.

Cover every possibility
Build an exceptional f/4 zoom system
The AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR brings the telephoto zoom range to Nikon's high-performance f/4 fixed aperture zoom lenses. Pair it with either the ultra-wide-angle to standard AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4F ED VR or the wide-angle to telephoto AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR, and you'll be able to cover an extremely broad focal length range with f/4 speed, superior image quality and a compact, lightweight lens system.

It's a fixed aperture f/4 zoom right? Wonder why they didn't include it?

It's gotta be the price difference.

I thought maybe the price but more likely because it isn't a lens you want to walk around all day handholding. That's going to be a big selling point for the 70-200 f/4, the 70-200 f/2.8 can make your arms sore shooting all day but if the f/4 is comparable to the Canon f/4 IS even I could walk around all day shooting it.

Yeah, the 200-400mm is more of a loner lens rather than one that would be carried around with a bunch of others due to its size and weight.

If the Nikon 70-200mm f/4 is anywhere near Canon's they'll have a hit on their hands. I've only ever used Canon's Mk I that didn't have IS, but that lens was stellar wide open and people say the IS version is even better.

I've read that before about the Canon 70-200 f/4. I owned both lenses and they were both fantastic, if there was any difference in IQ I couldn't spot it. The big advantage was the IS, I could shoot the IS version at 200mm/1/60s and see no shake at all.

If it's four, it's called the "Four Horsemen". :)

Oh yeah, I had the 105mm long before I got the 24-70. So far I haven't been disappointed in any of the Nikon lenses I've gotten.

Here's another shot taken with the Nikon 18-35, no distortion correction. I'm now officially on the prowl for a 16-35 VR or 17-35.

I was using it sometimes, I like the ability to zoom in in live view.
