Nice! I have the 25 f2 too. Congrats! :)

I don't have the f/2, I have the f/2.8. Some have knocked it for distortion but it doesn't look bad to me.

Yeah, my 21 has a bit of moustache distortion but, it's a minor flaw. It's perfect when it comes to flare control, no CA, etc. :)

The little bit of distortion is easy to deal with in LR. I can't wait for the sun to come out, I'll have to burn another roll of Velvia. ;)

Great news everyone!! (D800 owners) my $76.95 Zeikos works PERFECTLY with RRS L-Plate. No need to spend $380 on MB-D12

That is good news. Is there any play in the bracket/grip? I dropped RRS a note last week asking them if they'd tried the bracket with any after market grips - and they hadn't. I have found the MB-D12 for $360 new on EBay...but it makes me nervous buying anything there given some of the knock offs I've seen in what looks like Nikon packaging.

was driving around in a subdivision today and found this bridge, this place has been opened for almost 6 years,it has 5 houses and no one living in them, its 6 miles off a secondary road and then its 3 more miles back to the first house. The waterfront lots were going for 420,000 now they can be had for 70k. So sad.

I really like how these turned out and they were quick shots.

No play at all man, as decent as it can get. Very solid. I knew I was risking but I saved myself $300! Here's the thing you need to know: I found out that most Zeiko grips are almost identical to Nikon and Canon design.

Go to BH, search for MB-D12 and zeikos, save the pics and compare them side by side (Good thing BH takes product shots exactly the same orientation the other brands) and you will find out that Nikon and Zaikos are identical in design on the pictures.

Battery grip is something I don't care about when it comes to quality therefore I went for Zeikos. But it's a very solid grip, regardless.

I was afraid there would be a mismatch but You can fully open the rubber cover with the grip and RRS plate sits on perfectly. I love it!!

I will try to post pics tomorrow morning so y'all can see.

I owned a Zeiko grip when i had a rebel body. It was fine because the rebel body is cheaply made so they matched perfectly. When i got a Zeiko grip for the 7D i returned it asap to BH. It felt too cheap compared to the 7D. So it is all subjective. On the grip i would go OEM dont mind third party on other things. Great news if you are trying to save some bucks.

But with the pace it has moved lately, the next one should move a little more quickly. Maybe 1.5 years.

I wonder if that varies by model? I've had several Zeikos grips for entry level and prosumer bodies and they have all been well built and felt solid. I've gotten to the point where I just don't use them now since I rarely shoot in portrait orientation and I can get over 1100 shots from a single EN-EL15.

I think Canon's new pricing has picked up the pace of this thread.

Getting over 1100 shots and just by leaving your camera "on" are totally different. The D800 drains the life out of the EN-EL15 just by leaving the power on for several hours compared to the D7000 which uses the same battery.

I still have my MB-D14 and I compared it to the Zeikos. Meh, both are very identical!! I guess the latest Zaikos are pretty awesome. MB-D's are way overpriced.

Not sure but both the rebel and 7D zeikos i had both felt cheap. With the rebel it matched the cheap plastic body of the rebel so it was perfect  But on the 7D the difference was too vast.
