I'd not bother. How better can it be over PLM v.1 which was just plain horrid, uneven lighting w/hot spots. It's just Mr. Buff hype.

I'd get the silver just for background props... Man they look cool lit up !

When i have some spare cash lying around, i would likely get some to test em out, but i have heard good things about them overall, not sure what unclemat is talking about.

Did you light her with it or is she standing in front of it?

Huh ???

She's standing in front of me. I'm standing in front of the 86" Silver and letting the light pass around me.
Like they do with the 74" Octabank bw!

Blurry was asking if it was your white background....

Yup, it was a legitimate question. Even the 74" Octa can be used in front of or behind the subject. ;)

It was a legitimate question, but I didn't understand it at first.

The 86" was used to light the model. BG was set up with 2 AB1600's, half power pointed at my white foam board L panels and bounced into the white wall.

I got my 86 v2 but haven't used it yet. Not surf about the hotshots, etc but I used a v1 and for lighting full length model shots it works great. No fall off. Fantastic for fashion catalog work. For under $100.00 can you really complain?

You base your statement on what!

I'd say the light meter used in this review would say your statement is totally incorrect and unfounded.

It's much better. It sets up like an Octabank with the light dead center.
The mounting ring allows you to adjust it inwards/outwards to tune the light for your shot. It's coverage is excellent.
The price is right and it's easy to transport. I like how fast I can install/remove the diffuser and the light quality looks great, IMO
