Epson Perfection V700 Photo, or CanonScan CS9000F

Hi All,

I need to get a film scanner to digitalizing all my old films negative, some of them are 120 B&W; most colour negative.

Wonder which one is the best for the job?

Epson V700 is few years old now, also twice the price (A$710) than Canon CS9000F (A$310).

Or Epson Perfection V600 (A$440)?

The V700 will do 8x10 negs. If you're only doing 120 (6x9 or less) then a v500/v600 or 9000F will do. Color negs can be tricky because of the mask. VueScan has presets for a variety of films that help get around this.

Thanks Tony. I'm mulling over choices to scan Kodachrome slides. 35mm.
I'll cull the slides before starting; time and efficiency is an issue.

I don't trust the local store to give me good information.

If you're only doing 35mm then you should consider a dedicated film scanner, such as the Plustek 7600i. Also, make sure you disable digital ICE when scanning your Kodachromes as it does not work and will make the scans worse. You'll have to deal with dust and scratches after the scan (e.g., Photoshop).
