I'm a Photoshop user that just starting using LR3 today.

I hit export to convert my RAWs into my desired jpeg size. Now I want to import those jpegs into my catalog but they don't show up in that particular folder that they are in (same folder that is storing my RAW images for that set).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In Library, right-click on the folder and select "Synchronize". A box will come up asking whether to just import every new file in that folder or to open the Import dialog allowing you to pick and choose. Also, be sure that in Preferences you have LR set to treat RAWs and jpgs with the same name as separate files.

There's also an option in your Export dialog to re-import things, but I don't bother because I don't like the clutter.

Thanks! That was the problem, LR was treating RAWs same as jpgs

Another question. I have those jpgs in the catalog and I made some changes to that batch. What do to save the changes that I've made to those jpgs? When I hit export, it won't let me overwrite the previous files or does LR automatically save the changes as I make them?

Sorry for all the dumb questions.

EDIT: I think I answered my own question. I had all the images I wanted highlighted, right clicked, "save metadata to file" and it looks like it saved it for all the files.

Right. LR automatically saves everything in its catalog and it will also save to an xmp when you do "Save to metadata. The xmp is a separate file next to RAWs, but with jpgs and tifs it is embedded.
