Hi all,
I wanna trade my 7D plus some cash for a 1Ds MK-3 with 30k actuations... Is that a good deal? I don't wanna regret it later, it has to be done this morning. I have now about 4 L lenses and I do mostly studio portrait and some event photography. What do you think I should offer in cash? What to look for on the 1Ds III?
Thanks...

For studio portrait and event photography it sounds right. Just look for similar 1Ds3 2nd hand, 7D 2nd hand, work out the difference and that's a fair amount of cash to include.

based on the market for both cameras in toronto i wouldn't pay more than around $2000-2200

Well... do you need the rugged build and the AF of the 1Ds3 for "studio portrait and some event photography"?

It sounds to me that at least for studio, you have all the time in the world to set things up, so you don't really need the 45-point AF, and unless your studio is outdoors (rain/sleet/snow), you really don't need the bulletproof ruggedness of the camera. If you want the 1Ds3 for bragging rights, then yeah, go for it. Else, you might be better served getting a 5D2. You get higher ISO performance and it'd be cheaper. Just a thought.

Lol! I was skeptical about that too... He seems legit, he brought all the paperwork including the box. He is a dancing instructor and he said that it's too heavy. He even have a 5D MK-II... That's what I wanted.

I see that on your sig, you have the same camera, is there a way to enable the settings to display on the back LCD while shooting? Now it's just blank and I'm used to tweak settings there rather than the view finder.
Thanks...

I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction, but I'll have to check.
