I don't see the point of paying to fix something that is not a problem.

Of course it depends on the severity, and everybody sees it differently.

Well, that and I am really CHEAP!

I use the two O-ring solution: a small diameter one that stays in place and a larger diameter one I roll in and out of position. That way, I have an actual lens lock for when I have the camera/lens on a sling strap..... it just doesn't move. In addition, if I'm set up on my tripod, I can lean the camera at any angle, at any focal length and lock it in place.

The negative is I don't have a dampened zoom.. it's either locked or unlocked. I haven't found this to be a problem for me but as always, ymmv.

Some day I'll put a rubber band on it. That worked fine for my 28-135 for years.
