Tell you what, to me it's not really the price they pay - the local rag is $15 per image + mileage, in other words there's a LOT crappier pay out there in the world. To make up for that the photographers usually take the long way, at least when they fill out the mileage chart. Actually the guy who did these "assignments" for them did that too much and got in some trouble I hear, oh well.

Anyways, what it is to me is the fact that they want a rights grab?? For $50? Gigs I do for 5-20x more money I don't give up my rights entirely, they get more usage rights of course the more they pay - but not entirely like that. This is taking advantage of people that don't know how to read a contract and know what it means, it's really pathetic.

The pay to me is secondary, the fact is there's people who will do it for $50 - one guy out here shoots, burns a CD and bam, done all for $50. He undercuts everyone because he got his behind fired by every pro team in the area and nobody will hire him, so he shoots HS on spec and hopes to sell the CD. He can keep those gigs and a bad name, he's in a different bracket, they exist - these low market shooters, but man the rights grab just....wow.
