I took sigma to a 2 week Japan trip. At that time, I was using it on 40D. In just less than perfect light condition, Af struggled, hunt, not know what do do, where 17-40L with 3 stop slower optics AF spot on. To me, regardless how greate the Sigma optics is, it is not a very useable lens. 5Di, 5Diii, 28, 50, 85, 16-35II, 24-105, 70-200F2.8 IS

When I got it the lens was front focusing a bit, but after a quick trip to Sigma it focuses just fine. Sharp right from f1.4, great contrast and colors, and don't care one bit to pay more for the 35L (larger, heavier, not necessarily sharper, etc.). I've always felt that the Sigma 30 is the standard prime to have (and build around) for APS-C.
