I cannot seem to get the crisp shot I see even though I have a wretch tripod and using a cable release with mirror lockup, any help appreciated!

There's nothing here to be crisp. The moon and car lights are blurred due to the exposure time, and the tree line is too dark to see any real detail. What were you expecting?

drop your iso to 100 or 200, no need to shoot light trails at 800iso. Also did you have a filter on when you shot this?

Making some guesses as to what you wanted to accomplish - trails of car-lights, sharp image of moon, good detail in tree-line. I think you will need to stack at least 3 images; 1) time exposure to capture car-light streaks, 2) short exposure of moon, 3) very long exposure when no traffic to capture trees lit by moon-light. If #3 not possible when no traffic, then crop out the light-streaks from that image.

G'Jim c):{- ... 2x 50D (Both Gripped), 2x 7D (Both Gripped), 2x 5D Mk II (One gripped), 1x 60D, assorted glass (10-800mm), sundry accoutrements.
The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"
