I like the looks of the second edit much better. Like I said, with the original raw file, you'd probably be able to get a very similar look without much noise.

Could you share your workflow for the second edit?

The original is almost perfect. The only thing I would do is brighten up the trees just a tiny bit. Don't touch the sky or water...

I agree as well. All the edits make the stars way to bright and sharp in my opinion. I like the original and as barkingspud mentioned, just brighten up the trees a little and your set.

Here's another go at it. This time all that I have done is lighten up the trees just a little bit and the snow on the ground by 30%. Nothing has been done to the sky or the water. I added the black border just just to separate it from the background better. My first attempt with it was stricktly for intensification of the star field. Even I thought it increased the noise and haloing too much. The second one reduced the noise and haloing a bit, still intensified the star field, and brightened the foreground snow and water. My final one just brightens the trees and snow a tiny bit. My workflow in all of them was to make a layer copy in photoshop, convert that layer to a smart filter, adjust that layer with Topaz Detail software, go back into photoshop and paint out the changes that I didn't want to that layer, flatten the image and make a border. This is a wonderful photo, and I agree with others that it may not need any changes made to it at all. It sure has been a fun one to play arouind with though, because it can be changed so many ways. So far I have only done one photo of my own that has stars in it, but I plan to change that in the near future. I have several plans for doing more of it very soon. Corey, hang that photo! I love it!

I'll go ahead and post this one here. This is the only one that I've done so far that has stars in the photo. I have plans for more, especially after seeing yours Corey.
