Entirely possible. That's still basically a 172 though, right?

(I thought they grounded all the T-41s?)

they sold most of the T-41s to private owners. Most are repainted, but a few are kept in Mescalero marking/ colors.

Great shot! I love the angle on this one!

Growing in So Cal, we were lucky enough to have VMFA-314 stationed at MCAS El Toro for many years. They were one of the first squadrons to get the F/A-18s. (Also, the former home of VMF-214 / VMA-214 Black Sheep Squadron). I miss seeing all of those planes flying around here since they closed that base in the 90s.
