bw! I posteda couple of weeks ago about how I'm tired of shooting men's basketball halfway through the season. I've adjusted my techniques to get better shots but we'll save that for another thread.

Anyways, SJSU had its first home women's swim meet today. I did what any bored photographer would do and got out in the patchy overcast sun and shot the hell out of the swimmers. After shooting 2 months worth of poor indoor lighting sporting events, the daylight 7D performance blew me away. The 7D gets the job done at high ISO indoors, but hot damn its a whole different beast in legit lighting :D

On to the pictures! (click any photo to go to my Flickr)

For swimming shots, your work is really nice! Not a fan and probably wouldn't ever shoot, but I can certainly see good work in your shots.

Really like 2 and 3. A nice diversion from the typical sports images.

Thanks. It was nice to get outside a gym and move around.

I know how you feel about being stuck indoors. Two more weeks til I have some home baseball/softball games. Swimming is not an option here.

I'm a swimmer, so I liked these. :-) Must be nice to be able to do it outside though... our outdoor pools are drained and under 3 feet of snow.

I can't wait to use mine outdoors more extensively. I feel very stuck indoors these days, too.

Baseball season already?! I'm still celebrating the Giants victory! :p I want to pick up a 300 f/4 or 400 f/5.6 for baseball season. BUT I can't afford one right now.

Thanks. I'm glad a swimmer likes these. I can hardly swim. I'm 6'7" so I've been able to get away with walking in the pool most of the time

Like I said in my original post, I was stoked to get outside and shoot. The overcast sky was dull, but there were some fantastic breaks letting the sun in. Check out #2 and look how awesome the sun patch lit up that lane. It was just luck that the simmer turns to her left to breath.
