In a blatant violation of my long-standing rule never to shoot somebody else's art, here it is. I narcissistically and perhaps delusionally thought that I had something positive to add.

Little gaussian blur on the background and cloning of a fence post. Levels and exposure adjustment.

Shot at +2/3 exposure (which was too much, as it turns out) on a lowly 20D with a lowly EF-S 17-85mm 1:4-5.6 (judging from some of the equipment talk that I've been seeing. What is WRONG with me? [pounds fist into thigh a la Chris Farley])

Let 'er rip.

This has struck me as an exceptional photograph. Deep in thought trying to figure a way to flip his tassel and graduate to spring. Because of shooting over the snow in the foreground it's as though you have found his secret hiding place to be alone and think. This single shot tells a complete story. Thank you for posting it!

I actually respect your rule. Taking a picture of something someone made to look good is kind of cheating.
