Help me choose some things for my new PC

i just bought a refurbished HP Elite i7 8gb ram 1tb HD. im looking to add some thing just dont know what. im hearing things about an SSD and would like to know which one and where to buy. This is mostly just for PS and LR3. im thinking about adding another 1TB drive too. i dont have allot to spend so if anyone can point out a good SSD and 1tb it'll be appreciated. Thanks

Add another hard drive, either internal or external, for backup. An SSD can come later, if you wish.

If you are short on cash a SSD might not be the most pressing improvement for your computer, unless you have an older (slower, even if it's 7200 rpm) harddrive. All you get from buying a cheap, small SSD is a lot of hassle of always running out of space there and then having to juggle.

If you want SSD, I like the Intel X25 drives.

Any recommendations on an internal HD?

Im gonna add the SSD later on but i figure i will add another HD. Maybe 1TB or 2TB? Just trying to find a good deal on one and one thats good.

I always buy current Seagate 7200 rpm drives for many years now. ES when they are cheap enough but not religiously. The fail rate and general reliability is good and I won't change as long as it stays that way.

I stay away from WD because they screw up firmware too often.

I know people who run Fujitsu and Hitachi successfully but didn't do so myself lately.

In a word: I can recommend Seagates but as everybody else I don't have significant sample size to claim to have studied other drives enough to comment on them.

Ok ill look into seagates. Just look for any 7200 rpm drive right?
