Anyone know what kind of bird this is?

He was in a pond by my parents apartment. Neither me or Dad know what he is. After he got off the log he swam around for awhile then was diving under water. I'm going to work on the pic a bit in PS but I just was was wondering what it is. He was standing there for a good 10 minutes with his wings spread.

It's a cormarant.. postitively looking things :)
they like to dry off this way.. great shot!

Yep.. Cormorant..

That's a fairly common pose for them.. They don't have waterproof feathers like ducks and geese, so they have to sit and allow their wings to dry from time to time...
