My first image posted

I'm new to DSLR and post processing with Photoshop. The camera was about 2 days old when I took this so I was (and still am) getting used to the camera. The picture has had a severe crop to highlight the centre of the 3 flowers and it's stamen. Severe size reduction has had it's affect but I think it is still presentable. I have reworked the original recently after reading the advice from several posts in these forums and would appreciate any further tips.

It seems to be a bit out of focus. Did you use a tripod? Your crop is very interesting. I also like the colours and the background contrasts the flowers very well.

A wide aperture and very close to the subject gave an extremely narrow depth of field. It was quite a surprise that only the middle flower was in focus. It probably didn't help having a breeze and it is more than likely that there was some subject movement. It is also quite likely there is some camera shake as it was taken hand held but I am happy with the result. As for the crop, I just experimented with it in PS and chose the one that was most pleasing to my eyes.
