Opinions sought...

I'm bored with my 24-105 and was thinking I might mix things up a little. For around the same outlay, I can get one of the following:

1. 35/1.4
2. 16-35/2.8
3. 17-40/4 & 15/2.8 fish-eye.

Other info:
- I've already got a TS-E 24/3.5, 50/1.4 and other stuff 70mm and up.
- I don't take portraits that often and usually use a telephoto when I do.
- I seldom shoot indoors.
- I tend to use zooms at their extremes.

I'm leaning towards option 3 but fear I'd always end up having the wrong WA with me. On the face of it, I don't have a use for the 35/1.4 but kind of feel I'd find a use if I got one. (Admittedly, this argument has failed to bear fruit on a number of previous occasions but that's not going to stop me from trying it again).

What combination is going to re-invigorate my walk-around shots?

I'm afraid nobody can give you valid advise without knowing the camera format you're using.

you've already got one of the best wideangle lenses made in the TSE,

I'd get the 35L unless you feel that you like the 50 focal length better, if so, upgrade to the 50L

I get bored with the 24-105, as well. The 35L proved to be a good antidote - I rented one for a 2-week trip to Austria and ended up buying one when I got home.

I think this might by your answer. Why not rent the lenses for several days or a week, and make your decision based on first-hand experience?

I don't think any options are going to help you much, and certainly not for long.

You are bored with your 24-105 because really, lenses make for poor entertainment. I think you need to adjust your approach to find a longer term satisfaction with photography.

Cruise the photo sharing forum here at POTN or visit photo-centric sites like photo.net and find other people's work that you really like. Study these shots and think about ways to recreate them or use them for inspiration.

At some point you might find yourself working on some photos that you cannot make with the 24-105 (not wide enough, not long enough, not fast enough) or whatever. At that point you will know what lens to buy next.
