ooooh western chick here... rodeo pix are not easy. In the first I think the background is distracting (but that's to be expected...) I hate the powerlines but love the red fence panels and the tassels on his chaps flying everywhere; pity the horse isn't in a full hind leg extension. I would probably tilt it left to make it look like the fence provides a level horizon or better yet, make the power poles nice and vertical. It would tilt the horse up higher in the back, too. 2 has a bit of a better hop on the horse but the dark shadows behind the cowboy's head makes for an immediate lack of contrast around part of the subject. For me, anyway. Thx for sharing. That black horse looks like mine, haha.

A 5D, eh? What lens, if you don't mind me asking?

I think they do belong here - and if I'm wrong I'm sure a mod will let you know.

I agree about straightening up the poles. Also, I would try to crop a bit of the left away in the 2nd shot.

Good work, especially for just messin with a new camera.
