Actually no - think jon meant the underexposure/shade. His head is kind of lost in the dark leaves...and his face too shaded.

LOL...so it's you just horsing around then :)
How bout hitting their faces up with a dodge brush and pull up some of the exposure/detail in the face (both images).

Seems as though a flash could have been useful.

I agree; but it would have to be a monster flash to reach out that far. I use a twin flash setup for these kinds of long-reach shots.

The guys face is a great subject for a portrait shot. Just needs some side light.

Works great if the face is lit;) Natural light is the best.just have to get the subject in the right light.
