First season doing HS basketball

I started the season only doing the girls games, but ended up being asked to do all of the teams.

Nice action and good framing. It appears that you would benefit greatly from faster shutter speed. 1/640 seems to work really well at the HS level. Also, WB looks pretty cold. The shooter in the first pic has a blue cast to his face.

You didn't say what gear took the shots, but some sort of custom white balance should be used to get quality color. Are you shooting raw files, or are these .jpeg from the camera? If you can't shoot raw files or do a custom WB, choose the fluorescent WB setting on your camera which will get you 'close' to actual.

The was the first game I shot with my new 7D. Still learning the options (it was a big step up from my 30D). Shutter speed was 1/400 and ISO was 1000. I wasn't able to get anything usable above ISO 800 from my 30D, so I'm still trying to find the right balance with ISO and shutter speed. I've always shot .jpeg, but I have a JV game coming up that I plan to try raw. Thanks for the suggestions and comments.
