Use a 7D, and currently own both the 70-200 f/2.8 IS II and Sigma 150-500 OS. Any thoughts on if I would be better off with a 2x and the 70-200?

No comparison at all - get the 150-500.

According to TDP, the Canon is better at 400mm. That said, I've seen better copies of the 150-500. Personally, I don't think keeping both (or the Sigma) is necessary with the performance of the Canon overall.

Hmmm, So while the zoom range is great, maybe I would be better off selling off the 150-500, getting a 400 f/5.6, and a 2x for some versatility with the 70-200? Any thoughts on that combo? I do enjoy shooting birds

The 400 f5.6 being a prome will outperform the Sigma, however you lose flexibility and it has no IS, the Sigma 150-500 is a very capable lens for birds. Range is king so if using a 2X on your 70-200 where do you go then. I use both a 1.4 and 2X on the Sigma.

Really? The 70-200 MKII with 2X is near equal to the 100-400 and the 100-400 is better than the Sigma 150-500
