The paint is really popping.

It does, and it jumps right out of the image!

Sadly, the poles are (still) popping out of it, too.

It's a drag strip. There are lights. Part of life, and part of the scene and my personal call to leave them in.

great use of available light, the paint looks really nice. but please avoid the "ricer angles" in the future. my neck hurts from looking at the photo.

LOL, it's part of a complete set with all different angles from the car. This was one I'm not publishing and just one to play with the light and environment. I remember why I hate photo forums now, everyone cries like their firstborn has been murdered.

^um not really....we're just trying to give u some constructive critism....why would u post the crappy shot if you say you have a better one thats going to be "published"

not trying to be a jackass but if you dont like the comments then dont bother posting....not a hard concept.

easy there, big guy. i wasn't getting all weepy about your photo at all. i told you that i liked the photo, but that the angle was too extreme (what i call a "ricer angle"), which it is.

if you can't take constructive criticism, then maybe being a photographer isn't right for you. you're crazy if you think that EVERYONE will like ALL your shots ALL the time.

relax. the internet is not serious business, lol.

Believe me, after being around internet forums for 12+ years, I have thick skin. Some of the photography forum comments leave much to be desired though ;) Not yours, just some people who I never ever see post positive comments no matter what the topic. ;) I couldn't care less what criticism comes from it...unless they are the ones paying for the shots.

I don't get how someone can think that the poles in the background "pop"? They're not a distraction at all to me. I think that the bright orange viper that is filling the frame pops...

Referring to my comment? First I see the car, & then I notice the poles which are a distraction from the car. Then I see that they're leaning, which also is a distraction from the car.
If I could see that it's a drag strip, maybe with a shot taken with the car farther away from the start, then the location would have some context. We'd see more of the grandstand, the poles would have a reason for being there, & possibly not be growing out of the body.
Is that a big deal? No. Could it be a better image? IMO yes.

For me the angle really detracts from a fairly decent photo.

It looks like its going to fall off the page.
