Could someone compare the sharpness and overall IQ of the F/4 IS at 100mm to the 100mm F/2.8 IS Macro? I am considering these two very different lens for my crop.
I know the F/2.8 is often said to be on par with the prime lens in it's focal range.

However at f/16, 100L IS MACRO gives you better sharpness. The only obvious thing is 100L macro can't zoom and 70-200 can't do life size image. X-Pro1 + 18-55 f/2.8-4 OIS + 55-200 f/3.8-4.5 OIS

I love the fact I can frame whatever I want, however I want. I don't run into any MFD issues, which is nice... unless im shooting a bug or something... then I would like the mp-65e Body: Sony a7R IV

That's exactly my point. The zoom is wide open and the macro lens is 1 stop down..and it's freaking close

RPCrowe Cream of the Crop More info | The test results seem surprisingly close, since close up shooting is not really the strongest suite of the 70-200mm f/4L IS lens and is what the 100mm f.2.8L macro is optimized for. See my images at http://rpcrowe.smugmug.com/
