In Flight or Stationary?

Which images do you prefer most birds in flight or birds that are perched?

I prefer birds in flight, because I like the challenge involved in photographing them in motion.

BIF for me. In flight birds are way more lifelike and active, and the sense of accomplishment of pulling off a great BIF shot is also a consideration.

I like both, but BIF abit more.

To me, that is tough to say. I do appreciate the challenge it takes to get a great bird in flight picture. On the other hand, I also can appreciate the challenge of finding a rare or very skittish bird and taking the time and effort to pattern the bird, get close to it, and take a high quality photo. Some birds look just as good plumage wise in a flight shot as they do in a static shot. BUT, to me, I love ducks in flight but I can not pass up a high quality sitting image of many of the highly colorful ducks. I love seeing the sharp crisp details in their feathers accented by the brilliant colors. Not sure I can pick either way.

In-flights have to be my favorite because of the challenge involved getting a great image.

Flight shot, IMHO, it is quite straightforward...eith​er you get it or don't. It's challenging to get sharp shots though.
Perch shots, on the other hand, you have to get the best angle, lighting, and obstacle-free environment while trying to get close to a possible skittish bird.

I will take photos of both. But my favorite shot is the shot that you don't normally get to see.

My favorite birds are perching birds (song birds) so I prefer stationary.

In flight if I can get them like this, doesn't happen often though
