I do, yes. Trying to think of words to describe it, but 'haunting' is the one that I keep thinking of. Well done, like the lightning.

it sure is gift worthy, the lighting is woderful IMO.

i have to agree with dessertraptor on the cropping, leaving some more room on the sides will probably make it better.

Photography is my way to relax

Great shot, I'm sure your friend will treasure it.
The lighting emphasizes the eyes and gives a different quality to the shot.
The choice of B & W is good

Thanks for the comments. The cropping is quite close, I agree. The boy's mother was holding him so I wanted to just crop her out as much as possible without having to edit her out! Thanks again. :)

I cropped it a bit wider this time...you can see where I cut out his mom, though

I don't think she'll notice....... she'll be too busy gazing at that cute little face. I ran it through Neat Image and touched up the corner...... hope you don't mind.

Whatever Neat Image is, I think I need it! I will look into that b/c the photo looks so much softer. I wonder if I would get the same effect with Gaussian blur? I will try it. Thanks Maureen.

Tried the blur... totally lost the sharpness (duh) in the eyes. Guess I need some noise reduction software! Can you do something similar in PS?

I am glad you like the photo. I have Kodak Digital gem in my PS but Neat Image is available for free on the web. I think you can pay for an upgrade and more controls but I found the free version pretty much takes care of my photo needs.

I would definitely consider it a keeper. I'm sure the mom would be estatic to have it. It is one to keep forever. You did a fantastic job of capturing the moment.

Very nice shot IMO...the somewhat "dramatic" lighting and the boys expression does give the photo a very serious quality. Definately "gift worthy" :)
