help w/ my 430ex

I've been having issues with my flash firing too bright and I took apart the lower base and found a black wire that was loose. It is the only single wire coming from the top portion of the flash and for the life of me can't find where is goes! as you can see in the pic it looks like it has a metal clip and it almost seems like it is some type of an antenna. Does anybody know what it is or where it goes?

black wire is usually a ground.
