Here we go again! For anyone who missed the last thread, the idea is to get the front sharp & the rest with some motion blur, hopefully with a nice Peterbuilt or Kenworth with lotsa' lights on the trailer.

1. I kind of like it, but it's not what I'm after.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/2011%20Misc/Trucks_1-24-11_1730.jpg?t=1296613957

2. Too bad that the headlights weren't on & some on the trailer would have been nice.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/2011%20Misc/Trucks_1-24-11_1701-1.jpg?t=1296613957

3. Nice mood, but no motion blur.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/2011%20Misc/Trucks_1-24-11_1745.jpg?t=1296613957

4. I like the highlights from the following car.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/2011%20Misc/Trucks_1-24-11_1753.jpg?t=1296613957

5. Some blur in the trailer lights, but it's not a big rig.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/2011%20Misc/Trucks_1-24-11_1749.jpg?t=1296613957

6. This is closer to what I want, but I screwed it up & didn't zoom out soon enough. So I darkened it to hide the wheels & went for a mood shot.

So, no big rigs = another failure.

I get the idea but I don't think you succeeded at what you were trying to do and these really don't do anything for me.

I think you need a big rig with tons of lights on the trailer to get the effect.

Agreed, I don't see anything here.

You're right, & I said that at the bottom. But someone, sometime might want to get some "in the dark" shots, so maybe these will give them some ideas.

Yes, you're right. I said that at the top. I've been trying to get that for a few months now, but the elements haven't all come together, except once & another truck & car blocked the shot in this thread. Late evening motion shots - mostly trucks. ;(

Image #8 in this thread would have been fine for what I wanted except that the rig was black & the trailer is a flatbed. MOPAR Pickups & a Freightliner.

So sometimes we win, & sometimes we lose. Thanks for the comments!

But think of all the fun you've had standing out in the cold! You need to find a handy truckstop to up the target availability!

find a handy truckstop

Then I wouldn't have the sharp curve with the potential for a sunset to put highlights in the side?

standing out in the cold!

Thanks for thinking I'm that dedicated. But I sit in the car until I see one coming along. :D

You would be surprised at what you might find in proximity to that truckstop. Perhaps instead of sitting in the car, you could sit in a booth by the window with a hot cup of coffee and the perfect view!

you've got the wrong angle to your subject for a nice panning shot. As you move with the cab of the truck, your perspective changes with the trailer, making it blurry. In my opinion, you should rethink what you're going for.

That would be a excellent point except for what I said the object was in the first post. ;) You might check the link in post #5, too, for an example of what I was going for.

That was done on purpose & it's called "Day for Night", where you change the exposure in PP. I've been experimenting with it & will admit that I may have pushed the limits a bit too far.
Then there's the possibility that your browser isn't calibrated? That would make a difference, too.
René's thread w/link to my calibration threads:
Color problems? [work in progress?]

Just as a quick check, see if you can see all the bars in this image:

My monitor is calibrated. Photos are still underexposed.

Work on the panning some more. They look like they were taken on a cell phone. Keep it up!

Hello. I am new here and find this very interesting. I see you suggest calibrating my browser. Is it a special version of Internet Explorer? I cannot find how to change browser calibration. Should I use a different browser? Netscape?

 What? There is a technique for underexposing?

Pretty outrageous to recommend "browser calibration."
