Purchased the Sigma 150-500 f6.3 OS HSM recently.

Noticed that in some cases the lens renders a purple/blue hue to the image. Any help/tips in correcting this please?

To be honest, I'm not seeing the colour cast that you're talking about. I think the photo looks just fine.

I haven't seen a problem with my Bigmos. Sounds like it could be a WB problem. How are you shooting, RAW or jpg? If jpg, how are you setting WB? If RAW, what converter and again, how are you setting WB.

If anything, your "whites" look a tad yellow...

Thanks guys. The main problem i noticed was that the water does not look blue, looks rather pale purple

Shot this in RAW and converted using Picasa (I know i'll get flak for this, but DPP isn't opening up on the home PC)

Jay,
The yellows could have been due to my noob try at trying to correct the blues by using color balance.

Cheers,

Hmm -- you have some variables going on there that just make for question marks.

Let's start with DPP -- when you say it isn't opening up on the PC could you give us some details? Did you successfrully install it and have it running at one point, or are you saying you haven't successfully installed it? Give us some details of what happened one way or another.

Picasa can't work with/process your Raw file and doesn't have the kinds of tools that DPP and other Raw processors have to deal with colors and such effectively.

DPP was installed and working properly. Looks like some kind of a virus issue that caused the software to go kaput :(

Agree that Picasa isn't the best to handle RAW. Let me try converting these on my friend's PC.

Thanks all, appreciate your time and tips :)

What if you uninstall then reinstall DPP?

Im sure you realize this now, but post processing the image before posting it here also makes it harder for anyone to see your problem. I actually think thats a nice photo.

Your not getting it.... Post the photo Straight Out Of Camera (SOOC) without you correcting anything so we can see what you originally asked about (purple color cast?). And why would you not try to correct your computer/software issue? Going to a friends house to try your luck at PP is kinda like driving FILM to the drugstore and waiting a couple days. If a program is not working, unistall it and reload it!

The OP said he shot in RAW, so please explain how he would post an SOOC RAW file. He can post a jpg converted with a particular converter's default settings or a jpg converted with parameters that he set in the converter, but either way it will be corrected.
