so as of late ive sold most of my lenses and cameras and have stayed with the following
canon 17-40 f4l, sigma 24-70 f2.8 macro, canon 24-105 f4l, canon 70-200 f4L IS, sigma 50 1.4 and finally a canon 85mm 1.8. cameras 5dmki and 5dmkii.

today with a stroke of luck in my opinion i managed to buy a canon 70-200 f2.8L IS II for a great price. now my question is should i get rid of everything else as far as lenses to fund a 24-70 f2.8L and keep my primes? i figure id have all the focal lengths from 24-200 covered at 2.8. or are there other alternatives? i really hate carrying such a heavy bag when i go out so i figure this would lighten my load and get my lenses more use. any ideas or suggestions?

Btw i mainly shoot landscapes, candids, portraits and alot of indoor events

My favorit lens on the 5d mark ii is 35L. 90% of the time, that lens stays on the camera. 24-70L takes some good pictures but its not the 35L. I would sell 24-105, 70-200 f4 and sigma 24-70 and get both 35L and 24-70L.

Could live with only 24-70L and 70-200L II. Add a 100L IS macro too if you need it.

I have no clue. Sadly I'm a hoarder and love to hold on to everything. I'm thinking since I have suck a large range covered that it seems useless to hold on to everything else unless it's a faster prime.

Do you frequently use your 17-40 in the 17-23mm range? If so, you might not be satisfied with 24mm being you widest available focal length.

Do you use both the Sigma 24-70 and the 24-105L? If so, why? Could you live without one of them?

These lenses seem like the likely targets for sale. Keep the primes. If you sold the 24-105 and the 17-40, you would still have the Sigma 24-70, which is a pretty good lens, and you would have some extra money that could go toward another fast prime like the 35L.

For prime maybe 24L II, 85L II, and 135L. Got the landscape, portrait, and candid.

Only if you are sure that you can really tell the difference between DOF in your work between f/4 and f/2.8.

You got the bodies covered, maybe sell one as it's hard to lug around 4 goodies. For glass, as a part time shooter as well, I'd go with he 24-70L, 70-200L IS, and the 35L. Focal range covered, fast prime covered. Endless possibilities

If you like to carry better lenses the stick with all the "L" and let go the Sigma's - Your color, contrast, rendering, etc. will match better.

5DMKII or 5D MK III
Enough gear for now... need to get out and shoot more.
