I use the 135L quite a lot on my 1D3. I do mostly equestrian sports with it as it's FOV is equal to 175mm reach is quite good.

I owned and used EF 85/1.8 USM, sharp and fast autofocus. But I got some inconsistent results with it, mainly OOF-shots. But IQ-wise I could almost never tell which lens was used when looking at the photos I took with the 135L vs. 85/1.8 USM. Love the FL on 1D3s 1,3 crop, 110mm. So I would suggest getting the 85L.

I've heard nothing but good things about the EF 100/2 USM, buy it and try it, it's cheap! I also, for a short period of time, owned EF 100/2.8 Macro USM, bokeh and compression is a bit disappointing compared to 135L. That one f-stop makes a big difference.

I hadn't thought of the 85 replacing the 135, but 110 to 135 isn't that far off. I don't know if I want the 85L as I have heard the af is slow, the 1.8 and the 100 f2 maybe the way to go.
