But when my staff open the file in paint (no Photo Shope at work) it comes up with a white background. You may need to do some more exploring here. I believe you are correct. I don't think that Paint supports an alpha channel. I created an image with a transparent section, saved it as both TIFF and PNG, and opened both in MS Paint. The transparent section showed as white. Reopened in PSE9 and it is still transparent.
