The mind boggles, doesn't it. I'm especially taken with their "no freelance work" given the generous terms outlined. But hey, they'll let you bring said freelance work to the agency...

"We want you to come start YOUR OWN DEPARTMENT" but, "we only pay *UP TO* $150/shoot, including PP time". Just DAMN! I have a regular, non-photography job, enjoy it as a hobby and would love to get paid for some...I'd still laugh these guys out of the room if they offered me this "opportunity".

They'll have a line 3 blocks long, of people trying to get the none-job.

At the end of the year, they will find they've been used as a tax end scape goat, on top of all the other Hourse Mud

Speaks volumes about the professionalism of that ad agency, doesn't it?

I'm sure they'll find some idiot who will try do the job. Sorry for using the term "idiot", but seriously someone would have to be unusually low IQ to take that job under those terms.

"We want you to work for less than free... You'll go into hock doing this job.. But your compensation will be the sheer joy of doing the work... Of course you'll even give up all rights to your work. So, in the end you really won't have anything to show for it."

Tempted to send them an email and ask them to handle my marketing and advertising at their expense. If they aren't willing to pay living wages, shouldn't they be willing to donate their own services?

Yeah, they don't want anyone with 20 years experience. No kidding, they want someone who has no idea just how badly they're being screwed. What a bunch of jerks.

That unfortunately is probably the truth. So many see this industry as something glamorous, no clock to punch, no boss to report to. They love this as a hobby and think that will continue through into owning their own little chunk of the photography world.

I don't know all that much about NYC but I'm sure that you can't live off of a 150.00 per shoot and not have the rights to the images to boot. I do most of my work through an advertising agency in Canada and they are low balling so bad I hope that they get no one but they will.

I get a kick out of the be available for assignments pretty much any time and then they tell you need to hold down another job as well. They are a joke and doubt they can be taken seriously. Anyone placing an ad starting out with they are an award winning agency would most likely put their website someone in the advertisement. The other thing that would caution me is the statement "Also note: once you join us a partner and equity holder". Equity to me means I'm putting cash into it. Not bloody likely with this group.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

$150 per shot seems adequate even for NYC.

Shoot? Oh, never mind.

Commercial shoots at less than $150 with no rights - and your an award winning agency.

How come I have a feeling that "award" came pre-printed on a mug.
