I am having several corruption issues since my upgrade to 3.1(there is a colorful "rainbow"-like corruption running sideways occupying the middle of the screen.)
In my case, it only affects the 1st image of a particular import session. It does not occur on every import, but it does happen in about one out of every 3 import session.
When I export the master of the corrupted file in other apps (Firefox / Safari / Preview), they appear as similarly corrupted - meaning, it does not appear to be just the appearance or the image preview generation issue within Aperture.

I tried working off of a new, much smaller library, but on subsequent new imports, the same issue persists.

Are you up to date on Aperture (3.1.1) and OS X (10.6.6)?
I also had some problems with 3.1, but the update to 3.1.1 took care of them.

Yes, it happened after I updated the program. It never happened with previous versions though.

Hold down the Option & Command keys while opening Aperture, then choose Repair Database from the options window that opens. If that doesn't work, try it again using Rebuild Database.

Just to ease your mind a bit. Your images aren't corrupt, since Aperture never modifies the master image, your previews are what your seeing corrupted. Rebuilding your database should fix it. Selecting the image for a full sized preview will typically fix the image as well.
