I'd leave a space between your photo's, they kind of dark so the borders run into the next photo.

That "wood" bike is a riot, love the shavings.

Also, your pics are underexposed.

Here is my question... Since its mentioned they are underexposed, If i take the pictures more open then the flash brightens the subject too much. There is tons of different lights (flourescent, tungen, etc). The first three I did on purpose as I like the dark look (a prefered style). The third pic was taken at 1/40" F5 ISO 200 due to one bike moving. Was hard to get enough light, no flash glare (had it on diffuse), and limit motion blur. The last was taken at 1/10" F7.1 ISO 200. I was in S mode. Def open to improvement :)

You're using flash-on-camera?

There is tons of different lights (flourescent, tungen, etc). The first three I did on purpose as I like the dark look (a prefered style). The third pic was taken at 1/40" F5 ISO 200 due to one bike moving. Was hard to get enough light, no flash glare (had it on diffuse), and limit motion blur.

Why did you want it moving, or even in the shot in the first place?

The last was taken at 1/10" F7.1 ISO 200. I was in S mode. Def open to improvement :)

"S-mode"? What's that, & why are you using it?? Does your camera, whatever it is, have a manual setting?

Shooting with flash is tougher than most people realize. For instance, if I needed flash, in 99.9% of the time, it wouldn't be pointed at the subject. If you want the easy way to light a bike, see the links in my Sig.

I know several ways of lighting subjects in a outdoor or studio environment. Your links dont really help me in the least. Thanks though...

1. I do use a Flash (580 on the camera and maybe a Sunpak on trigger).
2. To create an artisic composed shot rather then the simple straight on shot everybody and thier uncle will take. Also it was a challenge, only way to learn is try.
3. All I do is shoot with a flash. With an indoor the trick is getting the correct picture imo. Which means no spots/flares on paint to make it look like you see it. S mod is shutter priority which is perfect for this imo also as M mode doest allow enough light without a tripod. At an event like this its too hard to manuever or get extreme angles without hitting a person or another bike. Without a tripod the floor lnds movement from people walking and creates too much noise in the background. So as you can see taking an indoor shot can be rather complicated with limitations and ingenuity. I was hoping to go another level.
