I want to put a Markins hand strap on my 7D and am looking for a plate that will work. I have a SLIK AF-2100 tripod head so I need something that will work with it. I was wondering if anyone knows of a generic plate that has a handstrap hole on it that may fit in between the camera and the quick release plate on my SLIK. I could possibly have something custom made that is thin enough to work if I can't find anything out there.

How about Camdapter?

High quality products, just make sure to chose the model right for your camera/tripod head combination.

I bought one of these a long time and have used it on the 50D, 7D and now on the 5D2.

Thanks for the links. I think the camdapter might work. I'll get in touch with them.

Imagetooling makes an Acra Swiss adapted plate that has the lug to attach a strap to. I bought one a long time ago and still use it.

The Camdapter comes in Manfrotto and Arca flavors as well as plain. I've got the Manfrotto and their Camdapter's prostrap as well. High quality and excellent service.

Jeff,

You may want to consider just getting the Markin 7D camera plate (P7D). I know its a little pricey, but if you are ever thinking of getting a ball head, you will be half-way there. Your SLIK will still work with the Markins plate since it has a standard 1/4" threaded socket, too.

I have the Markins hand strap and it is the best I have ever found - just love the strap. (I do have their M10 Ball head - it came first - but the strap was the best addition I have ever made.)

Thanks everybody for their opinions and it helped me make a decision. I just received the BG-E7 grip today and the Markins hand strap will be here tomorrow. I have big hands and love the feel of the grip on the camera. I can't wait to put the new strap on!
