I've been reading reviews for a new camera bag, looking for something smaller than my Domke J1 I've been using. While reading these reviews, I've noticed that some people are packing an amazing amount of gear into small compact sized bags. So today at work, I brought in my camera bag with intentions of doing a firmware upgrade during lunch, and walked past the shipping scale.

Just for kicks I measured my bag and it's weighing in at 20lbs/9kg. This is pretty much my limit as it's a larger bag and wouldn't be able to carry this all day. Also contains my "full kit" which is everything I need other than lighting stands, etc.

So, what is you're bag weight? At what point is it too heavy to really carry?

I try to keep my backpack under 20 pounds, but did load it up to 35 pounds once while traveling by car.

Yeah, well the camera and lenses give you a running start on weight. Then each thing-a-ma-bob adds its own.

Weighed one of my intermediate-sized Domkes once; 30 lb. or so. I've resolved to take steps to deal with that situation - I don't weigh my bags any more.
