This seems like a great deal, but right now I only have speedlites, and no studio strobes. Does anyone know if there is a way to use these modifiers with speedlites? Here's the link to the modifiers I'm referring to. http://www.adorama.com/WELAHGS.html (external link)

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
-Sean

You could probably use something like this from the same company (although it seems a little pricey):

There's probably other hotshot flash adapters you can get from other source, also.

Thanks for your input. It's a little too pricey though. Anyone else have any other suggestions? I have a qbox 24, and the bracket it came with, but I don't know if something like that would work for these modifiers.

You can get a bracket kinda like the one above from ebay for $30. I got one just to see. I was expecting total junk. It came and I was more than surprised at the quality. Just about the entire thing is metal and well put together. I have even tried mounting my 70in octobox on it. Held it fine.

The only down side is they are made with the bowens "S" mount. But that is only a problem if you already have strobes with another mount.... but speed rings are cheap. If you dont have any strobes yet, it is not a problem at all. Just order the softboxes with the bowens speed ring.

You can always do the DIY aluminum which is pretty sturdy. Here is an example of one I made a while back and use all the time. This one is a double, but I also have one for a single. Using the double lets me use each flash at lower power so they recycle faster and the batteries last longer. This particular speedring (I think its a Photoflex) is threaded so that it will take the brass extensions which you can then mount onto your umbrella swivel on your lightstand. This would certainly work for the softboxes & stripbox.

Umbrellas can used as either reflecting or can be shoot through. As for umbrellas this site is reasonable.

You can get speedlight adapter rings for soft boxes as PacAce suggested. Hunt around for less expensive ones or buy used.

Cheetastand (external link) has this bracket and they also sell speedrings for about $16 which will give you the S type adapter.
There are also sources, like Adorama and B&H that offer adapter rings for standard speedrings.
