This one wreaks of being stolen. No charger and $2000 worth of lens and camera for 900. Coping the numbers right off of everything. Anyone from NJ who has had lost a bag recently
check this one out.

Absolutely frigging amazing price. The idiot doesn't know what he has there. It's amusing how he lists the hood separately from the 24-70 lens--he obviously knows no better.

Something is definitely wrong with that listing.

And 718 is a Brooklyn/Queens (NYC) area code, not NJ. So the loss could be anywhere in the NYC metro area.

This is not too far from me, so I called to see what the deal was. They already have a buyer coming at noon to pick it up. Woman didn't know anything about the gear, it was her son's. Hopefully that buyer is the local PD, as this is obviously stolen gear.

A unfortunate reality is that big city police departments do not have time to deal with something like this, so it is unlikely that anything will ever be done. Besides, if the person it was stolen from hasn't filed a police report (with serial numbers), then nothing could be done even if the police were on the scene.

Even worse, I responded to an add like this and two young guys tried to rob me at gun point. After all they know you are coming with cash. This happened in a well lite public place. They didn't get the job done, because they didn't expect me to be armed. They got a complimentary trip to the pokey, waiting on trial date.

Are you serious? This is a common CL tactic. Offer a high-ticket item for a really good deal and then rob the buyer.

I am telling you guys, There are dirt bags everywhere. I got lucky!!!!!!
Think about it from the bad guys point of view. You come eagerly with a pocket full of money, right to where they want you to. It's a theives paradise. I went alone, I was well armed, but I don't think it would have happened If I would have had a friend along. (These guys are cowards), I will never go alone again. Lets face it not everybody is bad. A few ruin it for everybody.
JUST BE CAREFUL and very aware of your surroundings.

I just completed my first-ever Craigslist purchase two weeks ago. Based upon all of the horror stories I've read about Craigslist transactions, I followed three main recommendations:

1) Meet in a very public place. Our transaction took place in front of Barnes & Noble in a very busy strip mall.
2) Don't go alone. A long-time friend of mine met me there and was my sidekick throughout the whole transaction.
3) Since you've got one pocket full of cash, keep a loaded gun in your other pocket. I have a CWP, so it's all legal.

Fortunately for me, everything went extremely well with this transaction. This doesn't mean that future transactions will go this well, so I won't let my guard down and I will always make sure to cover my safety points.

Not all of us can carry a loaded gun but a public place is mandatory. I like picking the location or at least have a say in the place. I just sold my 17-40 L on CR and I know for a fact the guy had a gun. He turned out to be a cop and told me beforehand, I guess he did not want any trouble.
In total I have sold or bought 4 lens and my 50D. Like JR said "JUST BE CAREFUL and very aware of your surroundings "
