For those in the know can you kindly provide me the cost of and the number for 5D MK2 Anti Aliasing Sensor Filter in the case I screw up my wet cleaning of beloved camera.

I have used eclipse and the pecpads with proper sized plastic swab.

As far as i know, you can't purchase the AA filter. That would be a trip to service, and a huge bill. I wouldn't worry too much though, as i've cleaned sensors about 50 times and have never scratched an AA filter. (BUT there's always the possibility i guess)

I don't have this information, but I did screw up the filter on my 30D a few years ago, and was replaced by a knowledgeable camera repair shop (authorized Canon repair shop).

This is not something you can do yourself, the reason being that it's extremely difficult to not get "almost invisible" particles of dust trapped on the sensor surface when you remove and replace the filter.

And those "invisible" specks of dust will be very visible at f/16 or smaller. And they cannot be cleaned out without starting all over - and getting some new dust specks in.

As the saying goes, "do not attempt this at home".

the filter doesn't have a seperate part number, which means you'd be in for a whole cmos sensor assembly.
Part number is CY3-1595-000 (cmos sensor ass'y w/o FB data) or CY3-1595-100 (cmos sensor ass'y with FB data)

edit: found the FB data bit is in reference to Flange Back Offset values, presumably a very accurate measurement of the actual part concerned so repair techs can replace a sensor and shim correctly without having an expensive piece of measuring kit.

Apart from dust issue which isn't as bad as Glenn's mentioned above, there's no reason why someone with a bit of skills couldn't replace a filter.
Come to think of it, while doing an IR conversion I stripped the screwheads on my 10D filter and had to take a drill to it to get it off...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Just to clarify:

The filter was replaced on my 30D - not the sensor - they come separately. I would suspect that this is true for the 5DII, but may not.

The shop that replaced my scratched filter did a good job for the most part (they are a Canon licensed repair shop for warranty purposes).

Note the words "for the most part". This means that when I shoot at f/22 I can see a dust spec that no amount of wet cleaning has been able to remove.

I've concluded that the shop managed to include one small speck of dust.

The hard part is keeping dust out.

You might get lucky - or not.

the filter itself is a part that can be removed, it's just Canon don't list the filter for 5D MK II as a seperate part.
3rd parties like Lifepixel etc source the glass itself (rather than the filter in it's holder)
