I have taken the following image yesterday

I think it is a great photo, but there is always a way to make a great photo even better.

I welcome any comments on how I could have improved this photo.

You have a real winner here imo. Maybe unsharp mask and saturate the red and yellow. Crop off the left side.

I agree with Conk's suggestions. Cut off the two white areas on left and darken the vertical third one. Improve colours and sharpness as he says.
Also you have wasted space at the top and have cut off the sepal just above the word EXIF. If you have that on the original image I'd put it back in.
This should really be a vertical picture. The horizontal has too much bright from the road or path, making the subject appear too dark.

Very attractive image. Well done.

nice shot ,love the waterdrops however," and i hate to admit this because i love available light shots" you could have used a little fill flash lightind on the front of the flower.
